Business yaari

I was handed over with the role of social media marketing manager, but trust me, it was not less than a roller coaster ride. We were in the business of GST registration, ITR filing, company registration, trademark, loan assistance, food license, and much more. In 1 year of my joining, we went from a team of 6 to 30 members on site, and we also changed our office from the capacity of 10 to 50 members. I learnt a lot because the nature of business was a bit serious and the environment of the company was cool and, importantly, hot. I learnt a lot about taxation, the importance of trademarks, and loans for businesses. I created ads that really worked, and I understood the game of telling serious stories. Selling a laugh, joke, or sarcasm is a bit of an easy task, but telling people about the high-ticket product is a completely different game. I learnt about the importance of transparency in business. I learnt that some wrong decisions are not mistakes; they are blunders. I was taught about the ethics and seriousness of business. Was not a star employee, but surely learnt what it takes to be.

Financial yaari

A company that brings tools that help you solve your personal finance. We used to offer mutual fund investments, PMS (portfolio management services), insurance, and a lot of sub-product services that you may have heard of, like SWP, retirement planning, AIF (alternative investment fund), SME IPO, and much more. I was a NISM-certified mutual fund advisor. I used to make people understand why exactly SIP’s and Lump sums are important for your future. My work was to research funds across industries and choose the right investment option for an individual. Because this was a finance-related job, every step I took was well researched and verified. I learnt to handle HNI’s (high net worth individuals) and understood how they earn and think of money. I learnt to sell, communicate, organize campaigns, do research, attend meetings, seminars, and more and more. This job was a career shock for me because it helped me in understanding that money is like water; it goes in the direction that you decide for it.

Shaadi by creative minds

I turned in with the role of an event assistant and collaborated closely with the director of creative minds. From building a standee on the entry gate to managing flower showering on the stage, I did learn a lot about events, and particularly crisis management. I learnt what coordination skills can actually do when you are responsible for a thing. You cannot let the mess happen when you are backing up the host. Event businesses require a lot of planning before they become a reality on the ground. I learnt the power of backup; having extra is far better than having sufficient. Taking charge of an event completely makes you responsible for the mood of people who are going to be in for a celebration. Don’t compromise on things; if you make people feel special and happy, you either get a bigger pay check or you get future contracts in advance. Keep delivering the best!!

Twist it Studio

A Zumba dance class where 15-20 females used to club in together in a batch to perform Zumba as the goal was to reduce weight and move towards a healthy lifestyle. I used to create ads in order to bring in leads that later got converted into customers. From ideas, scripting, and choosing a model to shoot, I was the one responsible for the complete ad part. As it was the co-founder’s personal brand that backed up the business, I learnt that skill with no other skill is useless. The founders also had the skill of handling vulnerable situations; they used to listen to their customers, they exactly knew what they were delivering.

Viral split

An agency with a creative team providing video editing services to start-ups, businesses, and personal brands. Here I learnt what exactly goes into onboarding clients. Here I played a role of sales guy. I made a system through which clients were convinced to accept our offer. They gave us their project with complete trust. I understood very clearly that a clear and transparent conversation is very crucial before you start working for a client.

KOP (Kirana on phone)

An online grocery delivery service that used to partner with local stores to pick and deliver orders. This was a “dark store model” riding on the pick, pack, and dispatch good process. I used to mainly head the operations and marketing part. We took it from 0 to 70k INR in average weekly sale in 1.5 months, that too in a Tier 3 city of Bihar. We were shortlisted for an interview round at Y Combinator. My biggest learning was the understanding of repeat customers. In delivery or low-margin business, the biggest role is of the service you offer. Of course the product needs to be taken care of, but the service you provide convinces the customer to order again.
